Position Summary    

This position is responsible for leading and managing business development for existing and new business.  Drives business growth by identifying, recommending, analyzing, developing and implementing new business lines, partnerships and products.  With the DEOHS Division Chief, and faculty, helps to define long-term business development goals and build key customer relationships.  Maintains extensive knowledge of current market conditions.  

Essential Duties    

  1. Manages and develops an effective staff, providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources.  Determines staff qualifications and competency; recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluated, coaches, counsels, disciplines and rewards.  Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance.  
  2. Directs all new business development opportunities to meet established goals and objectives. Develops business cases to support new product and service development.
  3. Identifies and develops business areas to grow revenue and increase market share including identifying key customer groups, building awareness of products and services, developing potential partnerships and identifying new product development. 
  4. Conducts research to identify and vet new business opportunities and provides market intelligence and business trends regarding competitive offerings and prospect needs with a view on developing new services, products and distribution channels.
  5. Screens potential business proposals by analyzing markets, potential growth projections and financial impact.  Closes new business deals by coordinating requirements, developing and negotiating contracts and integrating contract requirements with business operations.
  6. Directs strategic marketing efforts to support market expansion and drive revenue growth for existing and new business.  
  7. Coordinates business analysis, operations, sales and personnel in the business development process to proactively integrate overall capabilities and requirements into the decision making process. 
  8. Identifies, develops and strengthens business relationships to advance the business. Manages customer relations to increase the business’s visibility and reputation.
  9. Facilitates proposal process with respect to timeliness, standardization, quality and results.  Prepares documents, information and/or presentations for requests for contracts and proposals and other opportunities for new business growth.
  10. Implements a reporting and monitoring system to effectively manage and report business development opportunity data.

Supervisory or Managerial Responsibility    

Manages 5-6 employees 


Routine travel (15 – 25%) by automobile or plane to alternate work/meeting locations, possibly during inclement weather.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in public health, business, marketing and/or closely related field required.  Master’s degree in public health, health administration or business administration preferred.
  2. Work Experience: A minimum of 3 years recent and related experience in the health care field, client services,sales, business development and/or marketing in a service industry required.  Leadership experience preferred.
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: None    

Salary Range: $81,000 - $102,000
