Summary

 

Position Summary
The Scientist I will develop new clinical assays, and perform clinical tests as well for the Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories at National Jewish Health.  The Scientist I works closely with other lab scientist and Laboratory Directors and may also work with academic and industry sponsors and collaborators, under the direction of the Senior Director or Sr. Scientist to identify unmet needs for new tests and improved methodology, with a specific focus on our core areas of respiratory disease, immunology, infectious disease, pharmacokinetics and molecular testing.  

Essential Duties

  1. Under the direction of the Senior Scientist or Director will run experiments, report results, analyze data through effective communications, technical guidance and resources as appropriate. 
  2. Assists with planning, developing, operating, collaborating and reporting all steps of new test development, validations and / or updated processes or platforms. 
  3. Adheres to specified projects on a priority basis determined by the Laboratory Director or by the business needs of the ADx laboratory.
  4. Presents data to Laboratory Directors and other stakeholders in regularly scheduled meetings. 
  5. Assists with executing projects over multiple disciplines including but not limited to Immunology, Molecular Biology, pharmacokinetics, Mycobacteriology and Microbiology and works with Project Managers to assure timely completion of sponsored projects. 

Other Duties

  1. Maintains lab including not limited to cleaning bench, monitors lab equipment, organizing lab, and maintaining and ordering lab supplies.
  2. Other duties as assigned.

Travel
Minimal travel may be required to attend trade shows or conferences to promote National Jewish Health Laboratories.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor of Science degree in biology or related major required. 
  2. Work Experience: Two years experience in a research lab or diagnostic field required. Previous experience working on viral biology, viral, bacterial and mammalian cell culture is preferred.
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: None

 

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000
