Summary

 

Position Summary
Responsible for supervising the daily operations of Diagnostic Cardiology including overseeing staff members and day-to-day operations required for a safe and efficient delivery of quality diagnostic testing. Responsible and accountable to the Director of the department and to the Medical Directors for assuring that the cardiology staff is trained appropriately and adequately equipped to produce high quality cardiac testing in accordance with the standards set forth by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), The Joint Commission (TJC), and the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

Essential Duties

  1. Manages/supervises and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, and disciplines, and rewards. 
  2. Prepares staff schedules, including identification of the appropriate number of personnel for daily activity, making any necessary adjustments in assignments and schedules for the daily activity level.  
  3. Monitors the quality of all testing results produced in diagnostic cardiology and assures that ACC, TJC and IAC standards are met or exceeded.  Actively involved in departmental quality improvement and quality control.
  4. Serves as a role model in customer service for the department.  Establishes and maintains effective working relationships and good customer service skills with patients, physicians, other health care providers.
  5. Troubleshoots for problems associated with patient techniques, equipment, scheduling conflicts, physicians, internal departments and outside vendors.
  6. Meets all compliance standards of the department and hospital to include: ACC, TJC, and TJC.  Maintains a thorough employee file for each staff member.  Oversee the development and editing of policies and procedures to meet compliance standards.
  7. Proactively strives to meet hospital and departmental productivity goals by being actively involved in the financial and budgetary targets of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Associates Degree required.  Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  2. Work Experience: A minimum of three years leading the work of others. 
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: One of the following certifications is required:  Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP), Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist (RCIS), and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with cardiac background. BLS required.

 

Salary Range: $95,000 - $115,000
