Summary

 

Position Summary
Administers and scores a battery of neuropsychology tests to patients with known or suspected cerebral disorders.  Works collaboratively with other team members to manage administrative tasks, such as returning phone calls, faxing reports, and maintaining patient databases.

Essential Duties

  1. Performs structured interviews with patient and/or family members regarding the patient’s psychosocial and medical history, emphasizing the patient’s ability to function appropriately and manage and comply with complex medical regimens.
  2. Administers an extensive battery of tests that sample cognitive abilities and some personality areas.  This includes face to face testing, or administering computerized testing.
  3. Accurately scores and records test results and response times; tabulates results based on normative standards for individual tests and utilizes computerized scoring system as necessary. Checks for errors in administration, recording or scoring and makes appropriate corrections.  Cross-checks other technician’s scoring. Returns the completed and cross-checked test files to the neuropsychologist, with final summary sheet, in a timely manner.
  4. Answers phone calls from patients/families or referring physicians with information on testing process, eligibility for our neuropsychology service. 
  5. Assists with teaching trainees how to administer and score tests, record behavioral observations and perform general clinical operations.
  6. Escorts patients from the waiting area to the Neuropsychology testing suite.
  7. Writes a summary of observations of each patient’s behavior and test performance. Records patient responses using clinical judgment to determine an appropriate pace of testing for each subject. Assesses test data validity and patient effort.
  8. Adapts approach to standardized testing procedure according to the needs of each patient to insure test results represent the best possible performance.
  9. Responsible for the clinical coordination of neuropsychology clinic including processing referrals, coordinating scheduling, preauthorization, obtaining release of information, requesting medical/psychological/educational records, and front office duties.

Other Duties

  1. Picks up oxygen from the main clinic for patients who did not come with enough oxygen to last the entire visit, or as needed.
  2. Orders, sorts, and stores testing materials, protocols, software as needed.
  3. Performs as backup to staff absences and vacancies as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelors of Arts/Sciences degree in Psychology, or other related social science required. 
  2. Work Experience: Six months experience participating in neuropsychological/psychological research or clinical protocols required.
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: CPR/BLS required.

 

Salary Range: $17.00 - $20.00
