If you’re a talented writer, we need you on our team. You’ll be tasked with a wide range of writing projects, including special event scripts and publicity, newsletter articles, donor communications, proposals seeking support for our vital research programs and much more.
 

Position Summary    
Responsible for developing proposals and other written materials as assigned for the Development Department.  Provides a variety of written materials to support fund-raising activities.

Essential Duties    

  1. Researches, writes, and edits proposals, letters, newsletters, brochures, speeches, and related materials for cultivation and solicitation of major and planned gifts.  Prepares both program-specific and general appeal materials as assigned by the Development Communications Office.  
  2. Works with faculty, as directed, to assure accurate and timely information on biomedical programs.
  3. Prepares letters for signature by the CEO and/or VP/Development as requested.  
  4. Researches and writes reports to donors on specific programs and activities.  Edits and proofreads materials prepared by Development staff members for grammar, accuracy of text, style, and consistency.
  5. Responsible for all materials required for Development publications.
  6. Performs as member of the Development Department team attending meetings and participates on committees as needed.
  7. Acts as a liaison to Public Affairs or outside vendors to determine content, design, and production of various Development publications as assigned.
  8. Utilizes desktop publishing or other appropriate tools to develop or adapt materials for donor cultivation or information.
  9. Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor degree in Journalism or English is required.
  2. Work Experience: A minimum of three (3) years of recent and related experience as a professional writer required, including a portfolio of published materials reflecting experience in the following areas:  public relations, medical reporting, fund-raising, grant writing, persuasive writing, and marketing.
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: None


Salary Range: $69,000 - $91,000
