National Jewish Health is currently seeking a Special Programs Coordinator to join our Morgridge Academy team. Do you want to make a huge difference in the lives of children who have illnesses? Morgridge Academy is a free K-8 school for children with chronic health issues located on the campus of National Jewish Health. This important role provides special education, technology, and media services to children in a medically safe environment. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with both adults and children in an innovative and nurturing environment. Prior teaching experience is required.  Special Education certification required. IT experience preferred.

Position Summary
The Special Programs Coordinator will work with school staff to manage the media, special education, and Problem Based Learning programs. This role will collaborate to provide an environment that nurtures the individual medical, educational, emotional, and physical needs of children diagnosed with chronic illness with rigorous, innovative, and authentic experiences. 

Essential Duties

  1. Teaches literacy and/or math as needed.
  2. Coordinates the special education program including managing the IEP, READ Plan, PLP, and 504 processes and ensuring high quality documents are written and implemented.
  3. Trains staff on special education, PBL, and technology topics.
  4. Communicates with students, families, staff, and district representatives and build strong relationships.
  5. Coordinates the Media program including selecting, organizing, cataloging and purchasing new and replacement print, software and hardware materials.
  6. Plans and implements programs such as library and technology training for students.
  7. Supervises library volunteers and interns.
  8. Provides technical support for the school and maintain technological systems in conjunction with IT.
  9. Coordinates the PBL program including collaborating with teachers and staff to plan and implement PBLs.
  10. Coaches teachers as they implement PBLs through regular meetings.
  11. Provides robust feedback to teachers to ensure rigorous, innovative, and authentic instruction.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Master’s degree in Education, Library Science or Library Media required. 
  2. Work Experience: 5 years experience in education required. 
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: SPED and Library/ Media certification required. PBL training required.

 

Salary Range: $70,000 - $83,000
