Summary

 

Position Summary
The Executive Director of Ambulatory Practice supports the vision and direction for the clinical care delivered by all National Jewish Health clinic practices. This position is responsible for clinical standards for all licensed and unlicensed personnel. As the leader of clinical operations, the Executive Director is responsible for clinical workflows, education, policies, procedures, and protocols. Through multidisciplinary collaboration, and in conjunction with physician partners, the executive director coordinates operational planning, systems assessment and analysis, and program development to ensure the continued success of the clinics.

Essential Duties

  1. Manages and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards.  Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance.
  2. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of healthcare economics and policy as well as the role of the governing body within the organization.
  3. Links financial responsibility and clinical need practices, while articulating and modeling the importance of patient quality and safety. 
  4. Continuously reviews and adjusts business and clinical operations in order to maximize efficiency and productivity. 
  5. Monitors and assists Practice Directors/Managers and Department Administrators in the development of the annual budgets, including projections for annual physician, and ancillary visits. 
  6. Mentors and develops Practice Directors/Managers.  Sets clear expectations and provides feedback to promote professional growth.
  7. Guides and supports Practice Directors/Managers in achieving budget performance; striving to outperform the budgeted margin for the practice (revenue/visit; net income/visit). 
  8. Guides and supports Practice Directors/Managers with managing setting visit targets and contingency plans monthly to ensure patient access and visit volumes meet targets. 
  9. Directs the development, implementation, and consistent application of effective organizational policies, procedures, protocols and practices. 
  10. Develops and supports internal controls to ensure policies and operating procedures are followed, necessary controls are effective and efficient, and compliance with current laws and regulations is achieved.
  11. Oversees and maintains accountability for compliance with all organizational Quality Improvement (QI) programs.
  12. Ensures staff knowledge and participation in QI activities. 
  13. Regularly reviews patient satisfaction data and addresses a minimum of two areas per fiscal year for targeted and significant improvement.

Travel
Minimal travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare discipline required. Masters in healthcare discipline or healthcare administration preferred.
  2. Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of nursing, healthcare administration or clinical practice in an academic teaching institution including a minimum of 2 years in advanced management required.
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: Current license in clinical area of expertise and CPR/BLS certification required.

Salary Range: $175,000 - $240,000
