Summary


Position Summary
Offers information services to NJH clinicians, researchers, staff, grant coordinators, and patients to build skills and support research and learning across the institution. Provides expert literature searches, bibliographic management tool training, evidence-based decision support, consumer health reference, research impact services, and maintenance of online library resources related to these areas

Essential Duties

  1. Provides high-quality on-demand reference and research support across multiple mediums (e.g. in-person, Zoom, e-mail), covering a wide range of health-related and multidisciplinary subject areas and programs, encompassing all stages of the research process.
  2. Performs and assists in the development of advanced search strategies and systematic search methodologies using databases such as PubMed, Medline, and Embase.
  3. Provides consultations on designing and using bibliometric analyses, training on bibliometric theory and techniques, and customized citation reports designed to meet specific needs of NJH faculty. 
  4. Assesses data management needs of researchers and collaborates with various stakeholders to strengthen data stewardship efforts.
  5. Promotes and maintains automatic alert services.
  6. Develops and delivers in-person, online, and/or recorded library instruction sessions, training workshops, orientations, and other events that seek to build library research skills and promote the use of information resources.
  7. Provides training and assistance in the use of bibliographic management tools (e.g. EndNote).
  8. Creates and develops research guides (“LibGuides”) that support health-related or biomedical research activities.
  9. Keeps up-to-date on the latest developments and best practices in health sciences librarianship and emerging technology (e.g. through discussion lists, professional literature, webinars, workshops, and conferences).
  10. Actively participates in relevant library and health sciences professional organizations.

Other Duties

  1. Assists with off-campus access to licensed resources. 
  2. Assists library technical personnel on difficult interlibrary loan requests.
  3. Provides circulation assistance as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: Master's Degree in Library Science required.
  2. Work Experience: A minimum of three years recent and related experience in a library required. Health sciences experience preferred.
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: Membership in the Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) preferred.

Salary Range: $54,660 - $71,727
