Summary

 

Position Summary

Responsible and accountable for assuring that quality Echocardiography is being performed by all team members in accordance with the standards set forth by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).  This position works within interdisciplinary teams to provide safe and personalized care for the patient.


Essential Duties

  1. Leads the Echo staff in the performance of high quality echocardiograms to assist the physician in the diagnosis of cardiac conditions in accordance with ARDMS and IAC standards.
  2. Leads the effort for the Accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography Laboratories (ICAEL).  Assures that all data requirements are met and submitted prior to deadlines.  
  3. Coordinates employees work assignments and staffing schedules to meet department needs. Assures that all echo staff have prepared and completed all required documentation in a thorough and accurate manner.
  4. Participates in quality improvement processes on an on-going basis.  Oversees Echo Services Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Quality improvement processes.  Initiates times to read exams with cardiologists to elicit feedback and quality improvement.
  5. Performs all related responsibilities associated with Cardiology Testing to include operating and maintaining equipment in accordance with hospital and department safety policy and procedures.
  6. Acts as a resource in trouble shooting problems associated with patient techniques, equipment, and internal communication with biomedical engineering as needed to keep all equipment functioning properly.  
  7. Assures that all staff is maintaining continuing education requirements as outlined by the ARDMS.
  8. Directs and coordinates training of new employees.  Work to identify and improve technical abilities of the staff.

Minimum Qualifications


Education    

Successful completion of an approved ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)or ARDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) program required. 


Experience    

Minimum of three (3) years of Cardiac Ultrasound experienced required.  


Certification    

Currently registered with the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography)  or ARDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) required. BLS required.
 

Salary Range: $35.69 - $46.52
