Summary

Position Summary: Directs and coordinates functions and activities of nursing department and assigned clinical/procedural operation departments. Develops nursing and clinical department's goals, objectives, standards of performance, policies and procedures. Organizes nursing and clinical departments according to administrative and nursing service guidelines; ensures compliance with legal, organizational, and medical staff standards. Has authority and responsibility for establishing, directing, and implementing the clinical operations and financial matters related to all nursing and clinical care areas and functions

Essential Duties:

  1. Manages and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency:  recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards.  Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance.
  2. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of healthcare economics and policy as well as the role of the governing body within the organization.
  3. Links financial responsibility and clinical need practices, while articulating and modeling the importance of patient quality and safety.
  4. Mentors and develops Unit Managers.  Sets clear expectations and provides feedback to promote professional growth.
  5. Guides and supports Unit Managers in achieving budget performance; striving to outperform the budgeted margin for respect areas (revenue/expense).
  6. Directs the development, implementation, and consistent application of effective organizational policies, procedures, protocols and practices.
  7. Develops and supports internal controls to ensure policies and operating procedures are followed, necessary controls are effective and efficient, and compliance with current laws and regulations is achieved.
  8. Oversees and maintains accountability for compliance with all organizational Quality Improvement (QI) programs.
  9. Ensures staff knowledge and participation in QI activities.
  10. Regularly reviews patient satisfaction data and addresses a minimum of two areas per fiscal year for targeted and significant improvement.
  11. Develops and implements a staffing plan that maximizes efficiency and sufficient resources to provide safe, high quality patient care.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required. Masters in Nursing or Healthcare Administration preferred

Work Experience: A minimum of 5 years of nursing, healthcare administration or clinical practice in an academic teaching institution including a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role required.

Special Training, Certification or Licensure: Current Colorado RN license required; current CPR/BLS certification required.

Salary Range:  $120,000 - $160,000
