Position Summary
The E-HIM (Electronic Information Management Department) Supervisor is responsible for coordination and supervision of employees and work processes in the E-HIM Department under the direction of the E-HIM Director. The supervisor facilitates effective communication and efficiency of work-flow, assists in coordination of governmental audits, assessing and managing work processes including training of electronic applications.
Essential Duties
- Supervises and develops an effective staff: providing effective communication, leadership, guidance and resources. Determines staff qualifications and competency: recruits, interviews, selects, hires, trains, orients, mentors, evaluates, coaches, counsels, disciplines, and rewards. Establishes and monitors staff safety and regulatory compliance.
- Plans, supervises and coordinates E-HIM Departmental activities to meet established goals.
- Oversees the day to day supervision and management of the E-HIM Department to include training, monitoring and improving processes.
- Maintains and ensures all health information is scanned timely according to standards to the electronic medical record.
- Oversees the accuracy and quality of the medical records through audits and completing the deficiency process as per department policy and standard.
- Acts in the capacity and coordination of policies, procedures and standards relating to confidentiality and HIPAA.
- Monitors monthly statistics as it relates to department functions for accountability and volume.
- Tests new application implementation and ensures the performance as part of operations and support while maintaining application enhancement and effective utilization.
- Resolves operational and unforeseen procedural problems relative to application implementation, regulatory compliance and hospital best practices.
- Reviews and updates Health Information Management policies and procedures as needed.
- Participates in Quality Improvement projects.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
Associate’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Care Management, or Healthcare Administration required.
Work Experience
One (1) year direct management experience in Health Information Management Administration, or Healthcare related field required. Experience in an outpatient setting preferred. Experience managing departmental projects within budget preferred.
Special Training, Certification or Licensure
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred.
