Summary

 

The Huang Lab at National Jewish Health is seeking a Student Research Assistant to join our team. Our lab studies study enhancers in hyper-transcription of cytokine and chemokine genes in inflammation and infection. We use Next Generation Sequencing to identify potential enhancers in response to inflammation and infection, use high throughput enhancer barcoded reporters to assess enhancer activity, and uses 4 color sgRNA guides to delete desired enhancers in cell lines, primary cells and mice to determine the function of the enhancers. The Student Research Assistant will work ~10-20 hours/week on assisting enhancer library construction, CRISPR enhancer deletion and bioinformatics analysis.  

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Completion of some basic biology courses
  • Basic R programming skills

No lab experience is required and we will provide training on techniques used in the lab. Candidates who are planning on pursuing a career in health-related or biomedical research fields are encouraged to apply. 
 

Position Summary    

To observe and learn techniques within a laboratory setting.


Essential Duties    

  1. Observe procedures and techniques unique to specific jobs and tasks. 
  2. Assist Laboratory Researchers with routine lab procedures such as data collection, sterilization of equipment and preparation of routine laboratory solutions.
  3. Stock and inventory laboratory supplies.
  4. Pick up and deliver materials and supplies.
  5. Answers phones, screen calls, refers calls or messages, arranges appointments, greets visitors and performs associated clerical duties.
  6. Enters data or performs related computer data entry.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Work Experience: Experience with basic laboratory equipment preferred.
  3. Special Training, Certification or Licensure: None

 

Salary Range: Salary for this position is set at $17.00/hour
